A Disciple Follows Jesus
When Jesus returned to God the Father, from where He had come, he commissioned those who knew Him to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always to the end of the age.”
A disciple is somebody who follows the teachings of someone important, not just learning them, but applying them to their lives and striving to conform their lives to those teachings. The modern world is full of disciples; some follow Marx, some follow Adam Smith, some follow a political party, and many follow “influencers” on social media.
We follow Jesus.
To do this faithfully is difficult because Jesus taught many things that are odds with what other voices in the world teach. Genuine Christian faith requires intentional, sustained effort on our parts… but the rewards we reap are worth it!
Here you will find resources to help you in the daily effort to get your own sin out of the way and live an abundant life in Christ.
Living as Holy Families
This amazing resource is provided to help parents reclaim their role as the most influential people in their children’s lives. In our experience, it is true that “the family that prays together stays together.”
Use this resource DAILY to strengthen your family and help innoculate your children against unhealthy influences.
Daily Scripture Readings
These readings compliment and connect the readings we hear on Sundays throughout the Church year, presenting the fullness of God to us, keeping us from focusing on just the parts of Holy Scripture we like or find comforting.
Healing Meditation
This guided audio meditation was developed by a former member in the course of dealing with treatments for her stage 4 cancer. Many have found it helpful for both healing and pursuit of more general spiritual well-being.
Preparation for Receiving Holy Communion
“Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” (1 Corinthians 11:27–28, ESV)
At a Holy Communion service, have you ever found that…
- Your attention wanders during Communion?
- The glory of Christ’s presence in the meal becomes tarnished by familiarity?
- Doubt about our actual spiritual need for this holy meal creep into your mind?
- The spiritual power of the meal becomes diluted because you don’t feel anything?
Preparing our hearts to receive Holy Communion is a serious but joyful matter. Here you will find resources to deepen your faith, enhance your experience of Communion, and assist you to receive the Sacrament worthily. (1 Corinthians 11:17-32)
Private Confession
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (James 5:16, ESV)
Sometimes it is just hard to really believe that God forgives our sins. Sometimes we need help with a spiritual, relational, or moral struggle that just won’t seem to go away no matter what we do.
This is why Lutherans continue to practice private confession. We do not do it to get forgiven we do it to receive help in living as Christians and receive the help and assurance we need to face the challenges of life in this world.
The pastor is available for private confession from 3-6pm on the third Wednesday of every month or by appointment. Don’t struggle alone! Get the help you need through this most ancient Christian practice.
